How Credits Are Sold

For information about the market for carbon credits, and how other greenhouse gas offsets are sold, an excellent resource is the web site of the Chicago Climate Exchange, or CCX.

The CCX is the world’s first – and North America’s only – legally binding, rules-based greenhouse gas emissions allowance trading system. The CCX also is the world’s only global system for emissions trading based on all six greenhouse gases.
